Distribution

In modern day film industries distribution is used in many ways. To release a film you have to make partnerships that will help you get your film out to the public and you have to be certain the partnerships you make are good investments. For example, many films make partnerships with movie theaters such as AMC. By making investments in the theater your film is getting the chance to be seen by a big audience and companies then make more profit. With these companies you have to pay to get in but make up the money in the profits you get back from tickets sold. when partnered with big time theaters as well, you are also getting your movie previewed before other films which helps market your movie. Another way that films are distributed are streaming websites like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. These companies create a partnership with the owners of the movie. While your film is featured on the website you make profit and so does the streaming service. There are many websites that you can il...

Marketing Plan

Image
For the film Beau  my partner and I have come up with multiple ways to market our film. With our target audience being teen girls in middle or high school we came up with ways that will help get the word out about our movie. Many teens spend a good portion of their day on heir phone looking through Snapchat, Instagram, and other social media platforms. Because of this ads and certain aspects that companies use help younger viewers recognize that product that they produced. The first way in which my partner and I are marketing our film is teaming up with snap chat to create a filter to promote our movie. A lens is an interactive filter you can put on a picture and some of them have mask-like features while some are like little games. For example, the Netflix Original To All the Boys I've Loved Before used Snapchat as a platform to market their movie. They used a little spin the bottle game to draw Snapchat users to use their filter. When they saw the filter it advertised the movie...

Target Audience Research #3

The final target audience example I researched was the all-time classic Mean Girls.  The comedy expresses the hardships of being the new girl in a high school and trying to fit in to the social norm. In this movie it targets ten and younger adults specifically women. Even though the cast is dominantly white, a slightly diverse cast is used to draw in all different races to the movie. In the making of this movie a few marketing techniques were used. First off, in the trailer you can see the emotional appeal used of the cast trying to be relatable to youth in high school as well as using many popular actresses and actors such as Lindsey Loan and Tina Fey. These two iconic actresses have created a big social standing for themselves and definitely boosted the film's views. Also the internet put out many ads and when the movie was released you could even buy your own "Burn Book." With this product, not only did it bring more people in to see the movie but it also provided more...

Target Audience Research #2

The next film that relates to my project is the 1999 movie 10 Things I Hate About You . In this film a high school student falls in love with a girl and devises a huge plan to get her to date him. This film targets teen girls from the ages 13-18 and anyone at any income level or education level. When this movie was being made Touchstone Productions used many marketing techniques to appeal to their audience. By doing this, they first released a preview that broadcasted on TV. In the preview it shows clips of the movie to create a feel of what it is about. An example of this is showing the difference between two of the main characters. One being the most popular girl in school and the other is the most hated due to her bossy and cold attitude. This helps appeal to different social groups as well as gives an emotional appeal and helps you draw closer to the two different girls personalities. Another way this movie was advertised was with billboards. Since social media was not a big thing ...

Target Audience Research #1

In our film Beau it targets most kids in their early teens up to people around 18 years of age, while it can be watched by anyone that finds it interesting. It includes relatable topics that could easily be applied to any of their lives. As for education level, anyone at any level of education could enjoy it. This movie could be considered more of a "chick-flick" but could be applied to both genders. Finally, this film is targeted to interest anyone in any social class. Beau is meant to teach kids to include each other and make close friends with the people that make you happy therefore there will be elements to include every social group and income level. The first film that shares the same social group and target audience as our film  Beau  is To All the Boys I've Loved Before. In this film released on Netflix, it related to all teens and young adults and quickly became very popular and blew up. It applies to young teens that are either in middle school or high ...
